12 Million Vehicles Recalled Over Takata Air Bags
Eight manufacturers were affected
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced that eight automakers are recalling more than 12 million vehicles in the U.S. in order to replace more Takata air bag inflators. The recalls will be conducted by: Honda, Fiat Chrysler, Toyota, Mazda, Nissan, Subaru, Ferrari and Mitsubishi.
This news comes after recalls were announced earlier this month, adding up to seventeen automakers adding 35 to 40 million inflators to be recalled. More specifically, Friday’s U.S. recalls include passenger air bags in older models in areas along the Gulf Coast with high heat and humidity, due to the inflators lacking a chemical drying agent.
The best way to see if a car is affected, according to the agency, is to visit https://vinrcl.safercar.gov/vin/ and enter the vehicle identification number.
