OSHA Prepping for GHS Meeting

OSHA will host a public meeting Nov. 12 to discuss proposals in preparation for the December meeting in Geneva, Switzerland.

OSHA, acting as a representative of the U.S. Interagency GHS Coordinating Group, announced it will host a public meeting Nov. 12 to discuss proposals in preparation for the December meeting in Geneva, Switzerland, of the United Nations Sub-Committee of Experts on the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals. That meeting will take place Dec. 10-12.

Comments and information gathered during the public meeting will be considered as the coordinating group members develop the U.S. government's positions for the Geneva meeting.

Similarly, DOT's Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration is hosting a public meeting the same day, at the same location, to discuss proposals for the U.N. Sub-Committee of Experts on the Transport of Dangerous Goods at its Dec. 1-9 meeting in Geneva. The PHMSA meeting will last from 9 a.m. to noon in Conference Room 4 of the DOT headquarters conference center, and OSHA's meeting will last from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the same room.

Call-in and "live meeting" capability for both will be provided; visit www.osha.gov/dsg/hazcom/ and www.phmsa.dot.gov/hazmat/regs/international for information on accessing the meetings. The information will be posted there when it's available, according to OSHA's meeting notice.
