VPPPA31 Set for Gaylord Texan Resort

Aug. 24-27, 2015 are the dates for next year's conference in Grapevine, Texas.

NATIONAL HARBOR, Md. -- Attendees, board members, staffers, and exhibitors headed home from the 30th Annual National VPPPA Conference with an eye toward next year's event. The 31st Annual will take place Aug. 24-27, 2015, at the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center in Grapevine, Texas, a stone's throw from D/FW International Airport; its Terminal A connects to downtown Dallas via a newly opened light rail line.

VPPPA already has issued its call for workshop proposals for the event. Proposals are due by Nov. 30, 2014, with speakers notified by the end of February 2015. This description in the 30th Annual's program explains what they're seeking: "The field of learning is as broad as our membership base, and attendees and presenters from an assortment of industries have perspectives and challenges that vary greatly. Since the audience reflects a range of experience levels, session proposals that speak to a specific discipline and industry, as well as those relevant to a cross-section of members, are both equally considered. Attendees especially enjoy workshops using a 'how-to' format to emphasize ideas, problem solving and positive results."

The Gaylord Texan is located between Dallas and Fort Worth, so attendees of the 31st Annual Conference could visit cities' main attractions. Dallas' highlights include the Perot Museum of Nature and Science, Klyde Warren Park, the Sixth Floor Museum, the George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum on the grounds of SMU, and the Dallas Museum of Art. Fort Worth's attractions include Sundance Square in the city's downtown, the Museum District (featuring the expanded Kimbell Art Museum, the Amon Carter Museum of American Art, and the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth), the Stockyards, and the city's Botanic Gardens. AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys, is located in Arlington, with tours available.
