Prescott Ceremony to Honor Lost Hotshot Crew

The June 30 ceremony, on the one-year anniversary of their deaths, will include an honor guard and the reading of the names of all 19 Granite Mountain Hotshot firefighters who died fighting the Yarnell Hill Fire.

The city of Prescott, Ariz., is marking the one-year anniversary of the deaths of 19 Granite Mountain Hotshot firefighters with a June 30 ceremony. It will include a moment of silence and ringing of the bell at 4:42 p.m., with the honor guard ceremony beginning at 4 p.m. The names of the 19 firefighters who died while fighting the Yarnell Hill Fire will be read by Patrick McCarty, a former Granite Mountain Hotshot.

There also will be a tribute hike starting at 9 a.m. along the Thumb Butte Trail, which was a popular workout location for the Granite Mountain Hotshots, as well as an exhibit honoring the lives of the firefighters.
