Looking Ahead to AIHce 2015

Salt Lake City's Salt Palace Convention Center will host the event May 30-June 4, 2015.

The American Industrial Hygiene Conference & Expo will take a western swing with its 2015 venue: The Calvin L. Rampton Salt Palace Convention Center in downtown Salt Lake City will house the event May 30-June 4, 2015. The facility has 515,000 square feet of exhibit space and a 1.65 megawatt solar array on its roof. Solar panels generate power to light the convention center's underground parking areas.

The conference's call for presentations lists July 2, 2014, as the date the submission portal will open, with Sept. 9 the deadline for Professional Development Course (pre-conference half-day, one-day, or two-day courses) submissions and Sept. 22 the deadline for technical presentation (main conference educational sessions lasting 1-3 hours) submissions. Visit www.AIHce2015.org for more information and a list of suggested presentation topics.

The host city is flanked by the Wasatch Mountains to the east and the Oquirrh Mountains to the west. Its name comes from the Great Salt Lake located 17 miles west of the city (take exit 104 from Interstate 80 to get there). The shallow lake is the largest saltwater lake in the western hemisphere, according to information posted by Visit Salt Lake.

Temple Square and the headquarters of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are top attractions in the city. "Addresses throughout the valley reflect the idea of Temple Square being the center of the city as they indicate how many blocks north, south, east or west an address is from that specific location," according to the Visit Salt Lake description of the 35-acre area, which is Utah's most-visited attraction.

Next door to the convention center is City Creek Center, part of a mixed-use downtown redevelopment project. Opened in March 2012, the mall features more than 100 stores and restaurants and a retractable glass roof, with a creek running through the property.

The average daily high temperature in Salt Lake City during the month of June is 82 degrees F, and the average low temperature is 60 degrees. The city's elevation is 4,330 feet above sea level. National Geographic has ranked it as the best U.S. city for hiking.
