ABIH Chooses New Chief Executive

Ulric Chung, Ph.D., on July 1 will take over the leadership of the board, replacing Lynn O'Donnell, CIH, who has served as ABIH's executive director since 1991.

American Industrial Hygiene Association President Barbara J. Dawson, CIH, CSP, released a statement welcoming the American Board of Industrial Hygiene's new executive director, Ulric Chung, Ph.D., tapped to replace the retiring Lynn O’Donnell, CIH. She has served as ABIH's executive director since 1991.

Chung will take over as chief executive on July 1, according to AIHA's statement.

"AIHA has been a close partner of ABIH since its creation in 1960. We are thrilled to hear that Dr. Chung will take the helm of the organization. Ulric's successful career in accreditation and education and his many years of management experience make him ideally suited to lead ABIH as it continues to play a vital role in contributing to the overall growth of the IH profession and communicating the value of the CIH for occupational health and safety professionals. We look forward to working with him," Dawson stated.

Lynn O'Donnell, CIH, is retiring after serving as ABIH's executive director since 1991.O'Donnell had announced months ago that she planned to retire by June 2014. "As a Certified Industrial Hygienist, I am extremely impressed by and grateful for Lynn's continued enhancement of the CIH as a premier professional certification," said ABIH's chair, Mark Finn.

O'Donnell also served as a director on the AIHA board and as a councilor for the American Academy of Industrial Hygiene. She is an AIHA Fellow and has received the ACGIH Bloomfield and AIHA Alice Hamilton awards. AIHA and ACGIH co-sponsor the AIHce annual conference.
