OSHA Renews Partnership with Electrical Apprenticeship and Training Trust

The agency has renewed the alliance, further committing itself to protecting electrical workers in Illinois.

OSHA has renewed a two-year alliance with the Electrical Joint Apprenticeship and Training Trust (EJATT) in Alsip, Ill., to further commit itself to protecting electrical workers against arc blast, arc flash, and other hazards that occur when installing electrical systems. OSHA's news release states that Illinois On-Site Safety and Health Consultation Program is also a partner.

As part of the alliance, OSHA and EJATT develop resources to protect workers in the electrical industry and participate in forums, round tables, and stakeholder meetings that discuss issues associated with arc blast and arc flash hazards. The alliance was first signed in February 2008 and renewed for the first time in May 2012.

"The renewal of this alliance reflects the importance of electrical worker safety and health," said Kathy Webb, OSHA's area director in Calumet City. "This alliance will continue to help develop effective training programs, while opening the lines of communication between OSHA, employers, and workers."
