OSHA Offices Form Alliance with Philippine Consulate General

The Dallas and Chicago OSHA offices have formed an alliance with the Philippine consulate general in Chicago.

OSHA's Dallas and Chicago offices have formed an alliance with the Consulate General of the Philippines in Chicago in an effort to work together to keep workers safe on the job, OSHA reports. The alliance's goal is to "increase access to education and training resources that promote worker rights and employer knowledge of their responsibilities under the Occupational Safety and Health Act."

Dallas participants in the alliance will develop training and educational programs in general industry and construction. The Dallas region alliance includes Philippine nationals employed in Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. Those in the Chicago region—which includes Philippine nationals employed in Illinois, Wisconsin, and Ohio—will focus on initiatives aimed at preventing falls from high work surfaces, electrocution, heat illness, struck-by dangers, and exposure to hazardous chemicals.

The signing ceremony was held at the OSHA Chicago Regional Office and included several area administrators. "This cooperative agreement allows us to work together to ensure that workers have a safe workplace, so that at the end of each day, they can go home to their families," said Nick Walters, OSHA's regional administrator in Chicago.
