Time Running Out to Enter ASSE's Innovative Safety Contest
To participate, employees must submit their workplace safety ideas by March 31.
The American Society of Safety Engineers is still accepting entries for the inaugural Innovation Award in Occupational Safety Management. Sponsored by Cintas Corporation, the contest will award a $3,000 cash prize and recognition plaque to an individual who has developed the most innovative workplace safety solution. The entry deadline is March 31.
"When everyone in an organization embraces occupational safety, from top management to frontline employees, injuries and illness can be eliminated," said Dan Braun, Cintas' senior vice president-Value Improvement Initiatives-Operations. "Only through world-class practices and continual innovation can we drive the industry forward."
Entries should include details of a workplace challenge and an employee's unique program, process, or procedure addressing it. (The ideas must have been developed or implemented in the United States within the past five years to be eligible.) The benefits could be hazards eliminated or reduced, improved safety knowledge, or greater efficiency.
An independent panel of industry experts will judge the contest, and the winner will receive the prize during the 2014 ASSE Professional Development Conference & Exposition in Orlando in June. "This award will not only recognize outstanding workplace safety achievements, but strives to inspire organizations around the world to create and execute on ideas that proactively promote an organization's health and safety performance," said Kathy Seabrook, ASSE's president.
