Company Cited for Repeat Fall Hazards

OSHA has cited Coastal Building Systems with repeat fall hazards totaling over $50,000 in proposed fines

According to a press release from OSHA, the agency has cited Coastal Building Systems of Amelia Inc. for repeat fall hazards totaling $55,000 in proposed fines. The company has been cited for two repeat violations after an OSHA inspection found employees working on a roof without fall protection in place. The company is a full-service roofing and siding contractor.

Previous inspections were completed in 2010, 2011 and 2012. In the most recent inspection, the company was cited for failing to provide a safety system for workers who were working at heights greater than six feet. In this instance, the workers were completing a project on a residential roof. In addition, OSHA cited the company for failing to provide eye protection for employees. The company was cited for similar violations at previous inspections.

Coastal Building Systems also received one other-than-serious violation for not having first aid supplies or a kit to protect workers from infections and injuries. For more information, visit OSHA.gov.
