Cal/OSHA May Redefine 'Repeat Violation'

Its March 13 advisory meeting concerns extending the statute of limitations from three to five years and changing the geographic limitation to statewide.

Cal/OSHA , the Division of Occupational Safety and Health in California's Department of Industrial Relations, has announced a March 13 advisory meeting to discuss proposed revisions to its definition of "repeat violation." Both potential changes would expand the scope of this violation category, as far as California employers are concerned.

One would extend the statute of limitations from three to five years. The second would change the geographic limitation to statewide, meaning that an employer with a violation at its operation in Sacramento could be cited for a repeat violation for the same condition at its San Diego facility, for instance.

The meeting will take start at 10 a.m. in the Oakland State Building, 1515 Clay St., 13th floor, Suite 1304, in Oakland, Calif.
