Ergotron Recalls 216,000 Flat-Panel Mounts

A weld can fail, which would cause the TV or monitor to fall.

Ergotron Inc. of Eagan, Minn., has recalled about 216,000 flat-panel wall mounts because there is a risk that a weld between the "VESA" style mounting plate and the mounting ring can fail, allowing the monitor or TV to fall. The product's name is the Ergotron Interactive Wall Mount; the recall was announced by the company and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

About 195,000 of these mounts were sold by retail stores from February 2012 to January 2013, priced between $50 and $400, in the United States, along with 21,000 in Mexico and 60 in Canada, according to CPSC.
