Four marines were killed at Camp Pendleton in California while trying to clear unexploded ordnance, according to Fox News. The marines were doing a “routine sweep to make a range safe for future training exercises.”

According to the article, there was no live firing at the range during the sweep, and authorities are still investigating the cause of their deaths.

Eight months ago, a mortar explosion during live-fire training in Nevada killed seven marines, and the cause of their deaths was found to be human error. The marines involved in that incident did not have appropriate training.
