Canadian Center Offering Workplace Health Webinars

The Canadian Institute for the Relief of Pain and Disability is presenting free webinars this fall about workplace health, disability prevention, and return-to-work.

The Canadian Institute for the Relief of Pain and Disability is presenting free webinars this fall about workplace health, disability prevention, and return-to-work, in addition to a separate chronic pain webinar series.

"CIRPD in the past delivered most of its educational programs via conferences and workshops," Executive Director Marc White, Ph.D., said. "The transition to Internet-based educational programming has led to the ability to reach a much larger group of participants from over 500 communities across North America and more from South Asia, the South Pacific, and Europe."

CIRPD has 38 webinars available on its website. They are primarily created by researchers and clinicians from faculties of health or business and medical experts. All webinars are free and available live (with Q&A interaction with presenters) or for viewing online later. Webinars on the CIRPD website are updated as new research knowledge is available. The webinar series is part of a developing online academic-community stakeholder global portal called the Health and Work Productivity Portal.

Upcoming webinars include these:

  • Wednesday, Nov. 6: How to Use Movement and Graded Exposure to Reduce Pain, presented by Jordan Miller, MSc, PT
  • Thursday, Nov. 14: Is Office Ergonomics a Pain? presented by Geoff Wright, P. Eng., Ph.D., CCPE
  • Friday, Nov. 22: Leaders' Roles in Creating Healthy Workplaces, presented by Catherine Loughlin, Ph.D.
  • Thursday, Dec. 5: Envisioning the Future of Disability Policy in Canada, presented by Ellen MacEachen, Ph.D., and Emile Tompa, Ph.D.
