Georgia Supermarket Equipment Sales Cited for 17 Violations

The 17 violations will cost more than $62,000 in fines.

Supermarket Equipment Sales in Georgia has been cited by OSHA for 17 violations, that will cost the manufacturing company $62,300.

"A wide range of safety and health hazards were identified that need to be eliminated from the workplace," said Bill Fulcher, director of OSHA's Atlanta-East Area Office, in an OSHA statement. "Employers cannot wait for an OSHA inspection to identify hazards that are exposing their employees to serious injuries. Implementing preventive programs and systems that ensure such hazards are identified and corrected as part of day-to-day operations is critical."

The 15 serious violations ranged from failing to ensure that installed lighting is explosion-proof, to a lack of machine guarding, among numerous other violations.

The company, which specializes in remanufacturing supermarket and restaurant equipment, also received two non-serious violations, that included one for employees using a truck that had not been evaluated since 2004.
