Virginia Bus Company Shut Down for Being Imminent Safety Hazard

The company was shut down under FMCSA's "Operation Quick Strike."

A Virginia bus company has been ordered to cease operations after the drivers and vehicles were declared an imminent threat to public safety by DOT's Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. FMCSA placed the restriction on Advanced Ventures, a small fleet of mini-buses and motor coaches.

This action was part of the agency's "Quick Operation Strike," an intensification of investigations into allegedly high-risk passenger carrier companies. These increased efforts began in April.

FMCSA reports the company routinely falsified annual vehicle documents, and an investigation of its vehicles led to 39 safety violations.

"Commercial bus and truck companies that intentionally falsify records to evade safety requirements have no place on our highways and roads," FMCSA Administrator Anne S. Ferro said in a statement on the DOT website. "We will continue to take immediate action to shut down unsafe companies and commercial drivers who endanger every traveler. Safety is paramount."
