SEIU Convention Includes Health Care Expo
The first international convention of the Service Employees International Union in four years is taking place at Denver's Colorado Convention Center one week prior to ASSE's annual conference.
Leaders and many members of one of the most active labor unions in defending President Obama's health care reform law, the Service Employees International Union, will be heading to Denver soon to attend SEIU's 25th International Convention. Activities begin May 27 and will close May 30 at the Colorado Convention Center in downtown Denver -– the same facility housing the American Society of Safety Engineers' Safety 2012 conference one week later.
The SEIU convention includes a Health Care Expo taking place Sunday, May 27, from noon to 6:30 p.m. in Lobby F of the center. The expo's theme is building healthier communities and preventing chronic disease, according to a preview posted by Elizabeth Royal, SEIU senior health policy coordinator.
Her report says the expo, which is free and open to the public, will include free self-health assessments, as well as Zumba, Tai Chi, resistance band, and line dancing exhibitions and a 20-minute guided fitness walk around downtown Denver.
This is SEIU's first international convention in four years.
