AIHA to Host PPE Decontamination TeleWeb
The American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) announced in a recent news release that it will be hosting an introductory TeleWeb Virtual Seminar, titled "Implementing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Decontamination," on Oct. 30, 2007, from 2-4:30 p.m. EST.
The TeleWeb will be based on two key documents: "Guideline for the Decontamination of Chemical Protective Clothing (CPC) and Equipment" and chapter 8 of "Chemical Protective Clothing Manual: Decontamination of CPC." Presenters will also share their own unique experiences.
Featured speakers include Curtis W. Hintz, MS, senior industrial hygienist with the Dow Chemical Company at the Global Industrial Hygiene Expertise Center; Fredric N. Bolton, MS, principal investigator with Hazmat Science Applications, Technology Management Company; Georgi I. Popov, Ph.D., assistant professor at the University of Central Missouri; and Nelson W. Couch, Ph.D., president of Triangle Health & Safety Inc.
Attendees will learn how to:
- Identify when and what personal protective equipment to decontaminate, versus which to dispose of
- Compare and distinguish various decontamination methods
- Assess planning and resource requirements for effective decontamination
- Identify the "do's and don'ts" of decontamination
