Today’s AEDs are designed for ease of use:
- When the rescuer applies the defibrillation pads, the AED analyzes the heart rhythm and "knows" when to deliver (or not deliver) the shock.
- Voice prompts guide rescuers through the rescue process and include CPR assistance.
- The shock may be delivered automatically, with no button to push and no human intervention.
