First Impressions: NSC 2021 Experience

Similar to ASSP Safety 2021, NSC 2021 in Orlando FL., people were ready to get back on the expo floor. Booths were filled with employees of companies ready to demonstrate their products, meet new faces as well as reconnect with old ones. The friendly atmosphere was inviting when walking around the floor, especially with Columbia Southern University (booth # 2109). Those working at the booth for the university are incredibly passionate about the college and what it has to offer.

I stopped by four of our New Product of the Year companies’ booths, as well. These include: Honeywell, SKC Inc., GlenGuard and OraSure Technologies. They were excited to show and demonstrate the products that won.

I was able to attend two interesting seminars that I gathered a lot of information from: the keynote we attended – Resilience: How to Build in Yourselves and those Who Lead, which was a great way to kick off the conference. Then, went a session called Influencing Human Factors to Prevent Serious Injuries and Fatalities.

On our second day, we attended the session: OSHA’s Top 10 Most Cited Violations. We made sure to get there early to snag a seat before it became a full house. It’s no surprise “Fall Protection – General Requirements” was number one on the list. We then attended the session: The Biochemicals of Falls from Ladders: From Research to Fall Prevention Strategies. This session tied in to our previous one and dove deeper into OSHA’s ladder hazards that fell at number three on the list.

We also stopped by MAGID’s booth. They demonstrated and even let us try their “MAGID COOL” cloth which cools down to 60 degrees after being soaked in water, wringed out and given 30 seconds to activate. No matter what the temperature of the water it was soaked in, it worked!

We’ll be wrapping up Day 3 and the end of NSC 2021 with the session: Overcoming Hurdles: The Challenges Following an Electrical Safety Program and Safety Training.

We’re seeing a greater interest in people coming to our booth (#1439) and wanting to grab a copy of our magazine and even scanning the QR code offered to subscribe.
