$13 Million Awarded to Provide Training for At-Risk Youths in El Salvador, Honduras

Catholic Relief Services will implement a project to develop skills for youths in those countries.

According to a U.S. Department of Labor announcement, a four-year project called Youth Pathways-Central American will provide training and employment services to approximately 5,100 low-income youths who live in areas with high rates of violence and are at risk of becoming involved in dangerous child labor.

The project will include training for 1,900 of the youths’ family members as well as specialized services for returned migrant youth. This will include job training, links to social services, and provision of emergency shelter.

Total funding for the project is $13 million, and the recipient is Catholic Relief Services.
