WISE Event Sponsored by Georgia-Pacific

ASSE's Women in Safety Engineering common interest group held its "Business and Networking" event June 24.

Georgia-Pacific agreed on June 21 to provide $10,000 to sponsor a "Business and Networking" event by the American Society of Safety Engineers' Women in Safety Engineering (WISE) common interest group. The event was held June 24, at the start of the Safety 2013 conference.

According to ASSE, WISE has 1,600 members, making it the society's largest common interest group.

"Funding at the diamond level will underwrite food, beverage, room, and audiovisual fees [for] this signature WISE event," said Kelly Benish, who heads member and partner relations for WISE. In an ASSE news release, she called the event "the hallmark" of WISE "and the genesis of why we came together to offer women a forum to network within the safety, health, and environment profession."

Other WISE sponsors include BP, the Adele Abrams Law Offices, PK Safety, Travelers Insurance, SPAN International, Spectra Energy, Monsanto, Summit Training Source, and several ASSE chapters.
