Society Fights Recession with New Career Resource Center
Recognizing that many of its members have been affected by the recession, ASSE has launched a new Career Resources website with targeted job hunting tools for safety professionals.
"We know how hard it is out there and we want to do something to help," the society said. Among the tools available at the new site are job search training modules (for members) and articles organized by subject covering topics such as interviewing, job boards, resumes, cover letters, and negotiation.
The new "SH&E Career Resource Center" is available by clicking here.
As part of the new website, ASSE is launching a Networking Partners Program, which pairs members currently seeking employment with an employed member in their area that has volunteered to help them network and search for job leads. The society says it is looking for employed ASSE members to volunteer as networking partners. These partners would be asked to communicate with their job seeker on a regular basis, review their job seeker’s resume, and provide constructive feedback, opportunities for their job seeker to network, and help facilitate informational meetings.
"These tasks may seem small," the society notes, "but they truly have the potential to change someone's life. Whether you are a job seeker or a potential networking partner, you can learn more about the program by visiting our website. We hope you'll sign up today!"
