Blizzard Postpones 'OSHA Listens' Meeting

OSHA announced this morning that the blizzard and forecast of more snow for Washington, D.C., has caused the big meeting to be postponed.

"A new date will be set" for the "OSHA Listens" meeting that had been planned for today in Washington, D.C., the agency promised in a Web announcement saying the meeting has been postponed because of a blizzard and a forecast of more snow in the area.

Big snowstorms have hammered the mid-Atlantic region in recent days, closing schools and federal agencies, halting transit systems and commercial flights, and causing thousands of residents to lose power. OSHA's notice also said the meeting's attendance was full as of Feb. 5, and no more registrations are being accepted.

The meeting will be available as a live Webcast. Both the American Society of Safety Engineers and the American Industrial Hygiene Association had invited members to offer their own recommendations and opinions so they could be shared during the meeting.
