The Healey-Driscoll Administration has awarded funding to 160 organizations across Massachusetts as part of its new SafetyWorks Initiative, a statewide effort designed to strengthen workplace safety, expand hazard-prevention training and improve employer compliance with evolving regulatory standards.
The program provides financial support to employers, unions, and safety-focused organizations seeking to improve injury prevention, enhance worker training, and modernize safety practices. The grants will help fund comprehensive safety audits, expanded training programs, ergonomic assessments, industrial hygiene monitoring, and other targeted hazard-reduction strategies.
State safety officials emphasized the initiative’s proactive focus on preventing injuries before they occur.
“These training grants help employers stay ahead of risks by equipping their teams with the skills to recognize hazards and prevent injuries,” said Maryann Falvey, Director of the Office of Safety.
According to the administration, the initiative aims not only to reduce injury rates but also to strengthen long-term workforce stability by building safer, more resilient workplace environments. The funding is expected to benefit thousands of workers across industries such as construction, manufacturing, transportation, maintenance and public service.
Organizations selected under SafetyWorks are encouraged to use the resources to modernize their safety programs, expand employee training, and collaborate closely with safety professionals to ensure measurable improvement. Officials say employers who adopt strong prevention practices often see reductions in injuries, operational disruptions, and associated costs.
