Siemens Acquires Danfoss Fire Safety to Strengthen Fire Safety Focus

Siemens aims to enhance its fire suppression technology and accelerate the company's shift toward sustainable solutions.

Siemens Smart Infrastructure is set to acquire Danfoss Fire Safety — a subsidiary of Denmark-based Danfoss Group — that specializes in fire suppression technology.

According to a recent release, Danfoss Fire Safety’s non-polluting high-pressure water mist systems will become a part of Siemens’ Buildings Business Unit. This acquisition supports Siemens’ strategic goal of expanding its sustainable fire suppression solutions for industries such as data centers, industrial facilities and tunnels. 

“With the acquisition of Danfoss Fire Safety, Siemens will be strongly positioned to cater to a shift towards sustainability in the fire suppression market. Improving our offering will position us to better address specific needs, especially in fast growing industries such as data centers, industrial process space and tunnels,” Susanne Seitz, CEO Buildings Business Unit at Siemens Smart Infrastructure, said in a statement. “This strategic step will also enhance our position in the global fire safety market, paving the way for further growth.”

Danfoss Fire Safety will operate as a separate entity under Siemens. Although the financial terms were not disclosed, the acquisition — which is still subject to regulatory approval — is expected to close by the end of 2024. This move marks a significant step in increasing Siemens’ global presence in the fire suppression market and driving the transition to sustainable solutions.

“Danfoss Fire Safety has grown into a global leader in the sales, development, production, and service of certified fixed firefighting systems,” Troels H. Petersen, senior vice president for Corporate M&A at Danfoss, said in a statement. “However, it falls outside our strategic focus. We are confident that the business, along with our Fire Safety colleagues, will thrive under Siemens' ownership.”
