2024 NSC Safety Congress & Expo Offers Diverse Professional Development Seminars

The sessions offered training for safety professionals, including preparation for ASP and CSP certification exams, leadership programs, and new strategies for risk management.

Prior to the main event from Sept. 16 to 18, the 2024 NSC Safety Congress & Expo—now happening in Orlando—featured a diverse lineup of professional development seminars, offering safety professionals a chance to sharpen their skills.

Starting on Friday, Sept. 13, the event ran several multi-day workshops designed to provide in-depth training in workplace safety and health. Among the key offerings were the Associate Safety Professional (ASP) and Certified Safety Professional (CSP) examination preparation workshops. These three-day courses, led by Robert Hites and Richard Lindsey respectively, were targeted to professionals seeking certification.

These sessions focused on equipping participants with the knowledge required to pass these crucial exams. Other notable seminars include the "Effective Safety Management Practices II," a two-day course led by David Consider that covered essential strategies for safety implementation and operations. Attendees also had the opportunity to participate in focused workshops such as "Incident Investigations" by Mike Ezzell, and "Principles of Occupational Safety & Health," a four-day seminar by JoAnn Dankert.

New programs added this year—such as the NSC Safety Leadership Program—reflect the industry's evolving needs, particularly in leadership and management. These sessions helped safety professionals not only manage risks but also lead teams effectively in high-stakes environments. Also, the "Executive & Employee Engagement for SIF Prevention" seminar promises insights on preventing injuries and fatalities.

With an emphasis on both practical application and leadership development, these professional development sessions at the NSC Congress addressed the most pressing challenges facing occupational safety today. The 2024 NSC Safety Congress & Expo continues on until Sept. 18, 2024. More information is available on the website.
