NSC appoints Zachary M. Radford as Vice President of Government Affairs

Zachary M. Radford brings over two decades of experience to the organization.

The National Safety Council (NSC) has named Zachary M. Radford as its new vice president of government affairs. Radford, an expert in transportation and safety policy and a former Capitol Hill staffer, has more than two decades of experience in law, policy and communications.

“We are thrilled to welcome Zach to NSC, where his experience will help position us for additional connection and engagement with federal and state government partners,” NSC’s Executive Vice President of Safety Leadership and Advocacy Mark Chung said in a statement. “Every year, the United States experiences hundreds of thousands of preventable deaths and millions of injuries. Government plays a key role in working toward the shared goal of reducing and ultimately eliminating these tragedies. We look forward to leveraging Zach’s expertise to continue advocating for the safety of all, on and off the job.”

Radford's responsibilities will include leading federal and state advocacy efforts to promote safety in workplaces, on roads and in other environments. His role also involves collaborating with government partners nationwide to advance legislation and policies focused on safety.

Prior to joining NSC, Radford served on the leadership team at the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association, where he directed strategic policy and legislative initiatives, managed congressional affairs and fostered bipartisan relationships. Radford holds a juris doctor degree from Washington University in St. Louis’ School of Law.
