VPPPA’s Safety+ Symposium Concludes in Orlando

The Sept. 17-20 event featured more than 50 workshops, an expo, and various tours and special events.

The Voluntary Protection Programs Participants’ Association (VPPPA) has wrapped up the 2023 edition of its annual Safety+ Symposium. Taking place at the Orlando World Center Marriott in Orlando, Fla., the event began on Sept. 15 with the Special Government Employee (SGE) training, and the main symposium days ran from Sept. 17 to Sept. 20.

After the Sept. 15-16 SGE Training, which offered participants a deeper insight into safety protocols, one of the main draws of the event was the variety of workshops featuring more than 50 sessions scheduled throughout the symposium. The workshops tackled a range of safety challenges and were led by distinguished professionals from varied sectors, including those in environmental health and safety roles and safety culture.

An integral part of the symposium was the expo hall, located on Level 1 of the Marriott, which featured more than 150 exhibitors presenting an array of safety products, gear, and the latest technologies. The event’s official website aided attendees by offering an interactive floor plan and a detailed exhibitor list.

Special events dotted the symposium’s schedule, providing attendees with unique experiences outside the regular workshops and expo. The Kennedy Space Tour on Sept. 16 showcased safety procedures within the aerospace sector. A Sept. 17 visit to the Daytona Speedway provided a different perspective on safety protocols in racing environments. The event’s annual golf tournament, held on Sept. 17, served as both a recreational activity and a networking platform, and also funded four annual $3,500 scholarships to be awarded to students pursuing a degree or certificate in EHS.

Additionally, various receptions and similar events during the symposium facilitated more informal networking and discussion opportunities.

For those unable to attend the 2023 Safety+ Symposium or looking for further details, VPPPA’s social media channels and website provide additional information.
