American Society of Safety Professionals Shares 2023 Society Election Results

James Thornton will be the 2023-24 president of the organization.

The American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) has announced the results from its 2023 society elections, including the organization’s 2023-24 board of directors.

According to a news release, James Thornton CSP, CIH, FASSP, FAIHA, will serve a one-year term as president of ASSP. Alongside him, Pam Walaski, CSP, FASSP will be the president-elect, and Linda Tapp will hold the position of senior vice president, all of which are also one-year terms. (Per the news release, “The annual succession of leaders from senior vice president to president-elect, and from president-elect to president, is automatic.”)

Thomas Kramer, P.E., CSP was elected to be the vice President of finance, and Stephanie Johnson was chosen to be the director-at-large. Both of these roles last three years. Steven Gray, CSP, CHST; Tim Page-Bottorff, CSP, CIT; and Daniel Snyder, Ed.D., CSP, CHST, OHST, CIT were also named directors-at-large.

“Our Society’s strength is rooted in our dedicated volunteers and their desire to take on key leadership positions,” said current ASSP President Christine Sullivan, CSP, ARM, in the news release. “Engaged safety professionals have always defined ASSP, keeping it vibrant and advancing worker safety and health everywhere.”

The effective date of all terms is July 1, 2023.
