ASSP Launches Standards and Tech Pubs Podcast Series

Future podcasts will cover topics such as fall protection and the management of hazardous energy. The episodes are free to listen to or download from the ASSP website every two weeks.

The American Society of Safety Professionals has launched a biweekly Safety Standards and Tech Pubs Podcast to help occupational safety and health professionals stay informed about industry consensus standards and technical publications. The podcast debuted in October and has already offered six episodes, including the latest one, a conversation with Vic Toy, chair of the U.S. Technical Advisory Group on ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems.

Listeners can learn from that episode why the new global standard is a key milestone for occupational safety and health and how it provides a framework for companies to increase employee safety, reduce workplace risks, and improve their bottom line.

The inaugural episode featured ASSP’s Tim Fisher, director of standards and technical services, discussing the importance of industry consensus standards and how they are created. Another episode features Richard Olawoyin, who co-edited Safety Leadership and Professional Development, a new publication from ASSP. He talks about how he and Darryl Hill created the book and why it's important for all workplace safety professionals to develop specific skills.

Future ASSP podcasts will cover topics such as fall protection and the management of hazardous energy. The episodes are free to listen to or download from the ASSP website every two weeks.
