Washington State Construction Safety Day Set for May 11

During the Puyallup event, which will run from 7 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., speakers will cover topics including fall protection, trenching, biohazards, lockout/tagout, and silica exposure prevention.

The Washington State Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) and the Washington State Governor's Industrial Safety & Health Advisory Board are hosting their 2018 Construction Safety Day  on May 11 at the Washington State Fair Showplex in Puyallup, Wash. The event is an opportunity for workers, employers, and supervisors in the construction industry to learn, network, and share ways to make workplaces safer.

Construction is one of the most dangerous jobs in Washington state, according to L&I; during 2017, the construction field saw more workplace fatalities and injuries than any other occupation in the state.

The event's keynote speaker is Eric Giguere, a safety motivational speaker who fits well in this event with a message about trench safety. During the Puyallup event, which will run from 7 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., speakers will cover topics including fall protection, trenching, biohazards, lockout/tagout, and silica exposure prevention.

Pre-registration is $60 by May 10, or $70 at the door. There is a group rate (five or more) of $50, and currently-enrolled students are $25. A lunch is included in the fee.
