ANA Urges Nurses to Get Flu Vaccination

The ANA has asked nurses to get the flu vaccine as well as advise their patients to do the same

The American Nurses Association (ANA) is asking all registered nurses to get the influenza vaccination, and to advise their patients do the same. According to the CDC, flu vaccination rates have steadily increased over the past five years.

“As the nation’s largest health care workforce, nurses must be true advocates, educators and role models of health and wellness,” said ANA President Pamela F. Cipriano, PhD, RN, NEA-BC, FAAN. “This includes setting the standard for immunization to protect ourselves, our families, our patients and our communities.”

The ANA’s new position on immunization calls for people age 6 months and older to get vaccinated every season.
