London Firefighters Make Theme Park Rescue
They helped 39 people down after the Rameses Revenge ride at the Chessington World of Adventure stopped with the children and adults 12 feet above a walkway.
Rameses Revenge proved to be an especially thrilling ride at the Chessington World of Adventure on Sunday when the ride stopped unexpectedly, stranding 39 adults and children. The London Fire Brigade was called, and firefighters rescued all of them.
They used ladders and cutting equipment to cut the patrons out of their ride restraints, then assisted them down to the ground.
"Firefighters assisted the trapped people down from the ride, which was around 12 feet above a walkway. We cut people out of their restraints before walking them down the ride and helping them down a ladder to ground level. No injuries have been reported, though a few people were understandably a bit uncomfortable as they were stuck for some time. Firefighters did very well to get people down as quickly and safely as possible," LFB Station Manager Justin Coo said, according to a brigade news release.
It said units from four stations responded after the call came in at 5:20 p.m. local time and everyone was safely down from the ride by 7:32 p.m.
