Free 2009 Electrical Safety Workshops Begin March 2

The Workplace Safety Awareness Council will present free trainig based on the general industry electrical standard in 33 locations from March 2 to Aug. 12, 2009. The Fort Meade, Fla.-based nof-for-profit organization received a Susan Harwood grant from OSHA that it used to develop and present the training, which covers electrical safety, arc flash, and personal protective equipment.

For those unable to attend the free training sessions, the council will develop an online training site complete with downloadable documents including PowerPoints, inspection forms, training handouts, and other tools, all of them available in both English and Spanish. Dates and locations of the training and a reservation form are available at http://www.wpsac.org/free.html

"These outreach workshops demonstrate the continued efforts of the Occupational Safety and Heath Administration to educate both employers and employees on how they can conduct business safely and successfully," said David A. Casavant, the council's executive director.

The council is a not-for-profit 501 (c)(3) organization dedicated to providing proactive health and safety training. Its mission is to:
