AIHA Releases Three New Guidelines

The American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) just released three new publications:

  • Guideline for Implementing an Integrated Health, Safety, and Wellness Program for Small Businesses, (Stock No: MEWG08-752), by William H. Bullock, DHSc, MSPH, CIH, CSP.
    This publication provides a business case for implementing an integrated health, safety, and wellness program to improve workers' overall health and to lower workplace injury and illness incident rates.

    This new guideline presents current good practices in the development of efficient yet thorough procedures for any exposure reconstruction project. Its focus is on the industrial hygienist's role and integration with other contributors on exposure reconstruction projects. The guideline addresses alternative approaches, data source considerations, exposure metrics, quality assurance, and appropriate documentation for possible, possible retrospective exposure data needs.

    This document provides guidance on the design, installation, maintenance, and safe operating practices for rack storage areas. This guideline also summarizes facility, structural (floor load capacity), and operational (layout, aisle widths, area lighting, material handling equipment) concerns.
