MIOSHA Awarding Ergonomic Innovation, Star Awards This Week

The Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA) will present two major awards this week, starting today in Muskegon with presentation of the Ergonomic Innovation Award to ADAC Automotive's Keating facility. On Friday, Monsanto's Constantine Operations will receive the Michigan Voluntary Protection Programs Star Award, the state's highest workplace safety and health award, at a luncheon ceremony in Constantine, Mich. The Constantine facility employs 53 workers and some 300 seasonal workers who produce more than 2 million bags of hybrid seed corn annually.

MIOSHA Deputy Director Martha Yoder is scheduled to present the Star Award to Site Manager Barry Meyer and Safety Technician Jason Doehring. Also scheduled to attend the ceremony are Paul Easterday, World Wide ESH Lead; Kent Martin, North American Seed Supply Lead; Jana Mentzer, Eastern Corn Crop Lead; and Marlene Russell, ESH Seeds Lead.

The Ergonomic Innovation Award recognizes employers for innovative ideas that have been implemented to reduce worker strains. MIOSHA Director Doug Kalinowski will present it today to Plant Superintendent Jesse Kalman and Environmental Manager Jake Rupert. The ADAC Automotive facility employs 300 workers who produce OEM equipment for automotive manufacturers and Tier-One suppliers.
