ANSI Launches New Web Site, iPackages Online Tool

The American National Standards Institute announced the launch of ANSI iPackages, an online tool that allows organizations to share, annotate, and personalize standards for internal use. The Web site was launched with six collections from the ISO 14000 series of environmental management system (EMS) standards.

“Organizations of all types are working to become more environmentally conscious and turning more attention to their EMS systems,” said George Gulla, ANSI vice president of publications. “We have launched ANSI iPackages with the ISO 14000 collections to make it easier for environmental, health and safety professionals to custom-fit the standards they need with the relevant regulations, policies, and procedures of their organization.”

Offered in partnership with Citation Technologies Inc., ANSI iPackages make use of the citationTMplatform’s search tools and its collaboration, notification, and change-management functionality.

  • Users can customize licensed standards by adding notes, tables, images, attachments, and hyperlinks.
  • Internal policies and procedures can be made more robust by linking corporate documents to full documents or specific text references.
  • Version comparison technology helps users easily identify additions, deletions, and modifications to licensed content.

In addition, updates, or revisions to any licensed standards that are published during the term of an organization’s subscription to ANSI iPackages are automatically incorporated at no additional cost. Subscriptions to ANSI iPackages can also be upgraded to include a license to Citation’s CyberRegsTMportal, providing instant access to the latest information from the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) as well as state and international regulations. Real-time access to updates in environmental, health and safety regulations, statutes, registers, forms, and guidance documents, as well as other management information system applications, is vital to meeting the requirements specified in the ISO 14000 collection, ANSI said.
