Safety Goggles Part of Argument That Triggered Shootings: AP
The man who killed five co-workers and then himself at a Henderson, Ky., plastics company was 25-year-old press operator Wesley N. Higdon, and one of the arguments that made him angry involved a supervisor who told Higdon to wear safety goggles and not to use his cell phone while on the assembly line, the Associated Press reported today.
Higdon called his girlfriend and told her he wanted to kill his supervisor, but the woman did not warn anyone, and two hours later he returned to work and shot the supervisor, according to the report, which was posted by numerous news sources. The supervisor was escorting Higdon from the building when he opened fire, according to AP's report by Ryan Lenz.
The company, Atlantis Plastics Inc., is headquartered in Atlanta. Its Henderson facility is part of the company's Atlantis Molded Plastics unit, according to the company's Web site, where a statement from the CEO was posted Wednesday night.
