Emerging Infectious Diseases Programs: A Performance-Based Approach

Healthcare providers, first responders, and safety professionals all play a vital role in emergency medical response, treatment, and transport of exposed, ill, or injured patients. We need to prepare for challenges, enhance incident management concepts, address emerging infectious diseases and increase employee protection and preparedness. Infectious disease programs must be based on medical evidence, modified for changing conditions and verified by performance-based training.

Topics will include lessons learned and forgotten, source capture and source control versus respiratory protection, dispatch/call management, pre-transport, EMS on scene, and post-transport employee protection elements.
