OSHA estimates about 18,000 workers in the United States workers suffer an amputation injury annually, and these are the injuries machine guarding engineering controls, administrative controls, and best practices will prevent. This webinar will focus primarily on machine guarding but also will address lockout/tagout, a major cause of workplace injury in the United States.

According to OSHA, lockout violations cause 10 percent of the serious injuries in some industries. OSHA recently announced citations against a Wisconsin iron foundry that included failing to control hazardous energy, with proposed penalties totaling $254,500, and it proposed $192,000 in penalties and file two willful lockout citations this year against a Florida bottling company after a temporary worker was crushed to death by a palletizer machine. OSHA has lockout standards for general industry, construction, electrical, longshoring, and electric power generation, transmission, and distribution.
