The IEEE Industry Applications Society (IAS) Electrical Safety Workshop is dedicated to changing the electrical safety culture. The 2019 ESW will be held in Jacksonville, Fla., March 4-8, 2019, at the Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverside.

The ESW is sponsored by the IEEE IAS Electrical Safety Committee (ESafC). The scope of the ESafC is treatment for all matters within the scope of the IAS in which the emphasis or dominant factor specifically relates to occupational hazards of electrical energy. Topics include: hazard phenomena, inherently safer design, work practices, hazard mitigation, and electrical safety management. The Electrical Safety Committee and its subcommittees will meet on March 4 at the ESW.

The Electrical Safety Committee has several awards that are presented during the ESW. They include the William C. Jordan Award, which recognizes an individual who has demonstrated outstanding service and dedication to the mission and strategies of the Electrical Safety Workshop and Electrical Safety Committee; the Outstanding Service Award, which recognizes an individual who has demonstrated outstanding administrative leadership and contributions in support of the Electrical Safety Committee, including activities of any of its subcommittees; and the Excellence in Prevention through Design Technical Award, which recognizes an individual's leadership and contributions in activities of the Electrical Safety Committee that serve to advance engineering technology solutions impacting electrical safety.
