This event will address many of the leading causes of injuries and fatalities in the agricultural sector, including musculoskeletal disorders, heat illnesses, respiratory issues, pesticide exposures, livestock handling injuries, and safe tractor operations. Language/literacy barriers, performance metrics, and pre-harvest food safety also will be covered.

The sponsors are the Agricultural Safety & Health Council of America and NIOSH, the National Institute for Occupational Health & Safety.

Agriculture is among the most dangerous occupations in the United States. According to ASHCA, an average of 516 workers die annually doing farm work and 243 agricultural workers suffer a lost-time injury per day, on average. ASHCA was incorporated in 2007 as a not-for-profit 501 (c)(3). Its members include American Farm Bureau Federation, Agri-Services Agency, Association of Equipment Manufacturers, CHS Foundation, CropLife America, Farm Foundation, Liberty Mutual, National Farm Medicine Center of Marshfield Clinic, and NIOSH.
