NSC Plans to 'Make a Difference' in June

"Make a Difference" is the theme of the National Safety Council's 2008 National Safety Month observance and a call to action to employers and other organizations to help reverse a dramatic national increase in accidental injuries and deaths. NSC says participation in National Safety Month each June is just one way that businesses and other organizations can support the organization's efforts to prevent accidental injuries by encouraging safe and healthy behaviors.

This year's observance will feature a weekly focus on the leading causes of preventable deaths--motor vehicle collisions, unintentional poisonings from overdoses, and falls--as well as the lifesaving benefits of CPR/AED training for people in the workplace, at home, and in their communities.

NSC's schedule of 2008 weekly topics follows:

  • Week 1: June 2-6 Emergency Preparedness
  • Week 2: June 9-13 Distracted Driving
  • Week 3: June 16-20 Poison Prevention
  • Week 4: June 23-27 Falls Prevention

National Safety Month posters and other materials will be available at no charge on the 2008 National Safety Month Planner's page, www.nsc.org/nsm.
