Executive Q&A: Real-Time, Individualized Hydration Monitoring for Heat Injury Prevention
Date: Tuesday April 22, 2025 at 2:00pm ET - 1:00pm CT - 11:00am PT
OSHA estimates that there are up to 40 times as many heat-related injuries and deaths than are actually reported, because many incidents are indirectly caused by the cognitive and physical effects of dehydration, such as falls and crush injuries. While there are devices that protect workers from severe heat stress, these devices rely on “trailing indicators” like heart rate and skin temperature. But by the time your heart rate and temperature are elevated, you are already in trouble—at best you need to take the rest of the day off; at worst you need urgent medical attention.
In this webinar we will introduce the only industrial heat safety device that directly measures each individual worker’s actual sweat loss in real time, and gives workers direct haptic feedback to stay ahead of the dehydration curve. Funded by Chevron and created by Epicore Biosystems, the Connected Hydration wearable measures sweat loss and warns the worker, through vibrational feedback, each time they lose 500ml of fluid. By drinking a bottle of water every time they feel the vibration, workers can stay ahead of dehydration, fatigue, and injury, and remain safe and productive.
