NFPA 70E 2024 Updates and Related Standards

The NFPA 70E-2024 standard was released in both digital and hardcopy formats earlier than most previous revisions. While the updates were important, they were not considered a major standard change from previous years. This allows for a shorter discussion of the changes and more time to focus on their impact on the industry. This webinar will cover electrical hazards for end-users who are new to this field but will also address a few advanced topics from the 70E-2024 updates to cater to more advanced end-users.

Some of the recent changes have a significant influence on electrical Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). NFPA 70E-2024 references other standards that are typically not discussed. This webinar will explore these standards and guide the industry on methods to implement this PPE effectively. Finally, the webinar concludes with a discussion of direct current (DC) from both an NFPA 70E and OSHA perspective.

Zarheer Jooma is a professional engineer and a partner at e-Hazard

He earned a master’s degree in electrical engineering (cum laude), is a senior member of IEEE, convened and chaired arc flash safety standards, and is a member of both ASTM F18 and IEC TC-78. He specializes in electrical network design, arc flash studies, electrical safety training, incident investigations, and auditing. Additionally, he serves as the technical paper review chair for two IEEE journals and will assume the role of chair for the IEEE Electrical Safety Workshop in 2025.
