Overview:
Specifying Eyewashes and Drench Showers
Emergency eyewash and drench shower products have been available to commercial and industrial users for about sixty years. Through that time, many specifiers have adopted the stance that the wide varieties of products available are quite similar in both form and function. The truth is that there are differences in design, operation and maintenance requirements that can materially alter product effectiveness and longevity.
This Webinar will provide details on:
- What to look for in selecting eyewash and drench shower products, in terms of features, materials used in construction.
- We will also explore the need to maintain consistency with accepted medical protocols, with respect to how in-plant initial emergency measures dovetail into downstream medical facility treatment.
The presentation will be lead by Michael Markovsky, Haws Corporation’s Vice President of Marketing. Product technical details, as well as installation and maintenance issues will be presented by Casey Hayes, Director of Haws’ Engineered Solutions Division. Mr. Hayes is a long-term employee of Haws Corporation, and has served on a wide variety of industry standard development committees, as well as having authored several hundred trade press articles and papers over the past ten years.
Medical details, including an understanding of how the medical community irrigates eyes, as well as why they approach irrigation as they do, will be presented by Dr. Rob Wolff. Dr. Wolff is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist and principal of the Sierra Nevada Eye Center, Ltd. He received his medical degree from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee in 1991. Subsequently, he completed his ophthalmology training at the University of Minnesota in 1995, during which time he received the prestigious Minnesota Sight and Hearing Association Research Award. Dr. Wolff’s ophthalmology practice has offices in Carson City and Reno, Nevada.
Ample time will be held at the conclusion of the formal presentation to allow for questions of any of the presenters.
This live event took place on Wednesday, December 10, 2008.
