First ASSE Webinar of Safety Professionals Handbook Authors Today
The American Society of Safety Engineers has scheduled the first webinar in its Safety Professionals Handbook series from 11 a.m. to noon Central today. Three authors of handbook chapters, including the book’s editor, Joel M. Haight, are participating and focusing on management of safety engineering work. The cost is $75 for ASSE members, $85 for AIHA or Alliance of Hazardous Materials Professionals (formerly ACHMM) members, and $95 for others.

The book is comprehensive, with 79 chapters covering 12 major topic areas (management of safety engineering work, Hazard Communication and right-to-know, environmental management, safety and health training, workers’ compensation, fleet safety, risk management and hazard control, emergency preparedness, fire prevention and protection, industrial hygiene, personal protective equipment, and ergonomics and human factors engineering). Some 300 ASSE members participated as authors, reviewers, editors, or administrators.
Haight, P.E., CIH, CSP, is an associate professor at Penn State University’s Department of Energy and Mineral Engineering. The other participating authors in this initial webinar are Jeffrey C. Camplin, CPEA, CSP, president of consulting firm Camplin Environmental Services Inc.; and Kathy Seabrook, CSP, president of Global Solutions Inc. and Global Solutions International (UK) Limited.
