AAOHN to Host Webcast on FMLA March 5

The American Association of Occupational Health Nurses Inc. is hosting a webcast titled Family and Medical Leave Act Update: Practical Approaches to Intermittent Leave on Wednesday, March 5 from 2 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. EST. Experts in the fields of law, occupational medicine, and occupational health nursing will offer practical solutions and tips to reduce legal liability, maintain regulatory compliance, and decrease unauthorized use of intermittent leave while ensuring the best health outcome for employees. The webcast content is appropriate for professionals working in areas of case management and human resources in addition to occupational and environmental health nurses, AAOHN says.

The webcast will be conducted by Tamara Y. Blow, RN, MSA, COHN-S/CM, CBM, manager of Occupational Health Services at Philip Morris U.S.A.; Rose M. Matricciani, RN, JD, partner at the law firm of Whiteford, Taylor & Preston, LLP, in Baltimore; and Howard M. Sandler, MD, president of Sandler Occupational Medicine Associates Inc., in New York.

Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to discuss liability issues for occupational and environmental health nurses in the interpretation and navigation of medical leave legislation. Participants also will be able to develop a medical compliance plan that addresses certification, periodic re-certification, and return-to-work evaluations and will learn to utilize tools for decision support and administration of FMLA requests.
