Looking Ahead to NSC 2013

Safety and health professionals who also have security and environmental responsibility may want to stay a while: Chicago’s McCormick Place plays host to ASIS, Safety Congress, and WEFTEC conferences in a three-week span of September and October.

Anyone who wants to attend the two biggest safety trade shows of 2013 in Europe and North America can book both trips and have a fair amount of recovery time between them. The 2013 National Safety Congress & Expo will take place a bit earlier next year than it did in 2012: The dates for the 2013 conference in the West Building of Chicago’s McCormick Place are Sept. 28 through Oct. 4, with the expo taking place Sept. 30-Oct. 2.

A+A 2013, Safety, Security and Health at Work, is the world's largest safety trade fair. This event occurs in alternate years and always is set in Dusseldorf, Germany. Its 2013 dates are Nov. 5-8. According to show organizer Messe Dusseldorf, more than 1,600 exhibitors and more than 60,000 attendees participated in A+A 2011.

McCormick Place has four buildings in all and 2.6 million square feet of exhibit space, with "easy access to 5,800 parking spaces," according to its website.

The 2013 NSC event is bracketed by two major shows related to the safety and health industry. ASIS International's annual conference and its popular security expo will take place Sept. 24-26, and the WEFTEC 2013 conference, the Water Environment Federation's 86th annual meeting, is set for Oct. 6-9.
